My dad is in the Marines and got stationed in Laughlin, Nevada, about a year ago. Amazingly, however, we had never gotten the chance to go down to Las Vegas for vacation. This summer, it was all we could talk about. We saved our vacation money and decided to set out the very day I got out of school. We all (my mom, dad, brother, and I) boarded the plane and set out for the great Sin City. We got there late in the evening, which was perfect to see all the flashy lights and amazing displays. It was awesome. We walked in incomprehension and silence down the strip to our hotel – marveling at the beauty of the place. I couldn’t wait to start our day tomorrow. We got up bright and early the next morning and set off. Dad wanted to gamble, so Mom decided to take us shopping while he went off and lost our hard-earned money. I thought it was funny because he always lectured us about making bets. Anyway, we went to an amazing mall that had every kind of store you could possibly imagine. While there, I stumbled across the most beautiful iPhone I had ever seen. It looked like it had a custom cover – designed with Las Vegas scrawled onto the plastic. It was so cool! I begged Mom for it and she finally gave in, telling me it was going to be an early birthday gift. I was so grateful. We got it and set up the service with no problems whatsoever, then continued on our way through the mall. My brother found something next – a new Play Station 3 – and threw the same beggar’s routine as I did. Mom gave in and got him the console – asking why we couldn’t have just gotten them back home. I didn’t care, I was happy with my iPhone. Now toting my brother’s PS3, we decided to drop our stuff off back at the hotel. We started walking back, through the crowd, and someone bumped into me. I almost lost my balance and, when I tried to catch it, I accidentally dropped my brand new phone. It cracked, right down the screen, not even an hour after I had gotten it. I was devastated; Mom was mad. We got back to the hotel and she told me to get online and find a business that would fix the phone. I did so and came across one iPhone repair place that had parts for iPhone and specialized in iPod problems and Apple iPhone LCD replacements. We sent it in and found the package waiting for us when we finally got back home. My Las Vegas trip had been cool, but I think the cell phone was the best part – except for the breaking part, that is.
