I went to high school in Johnston City, Illinois, but when my parents got a divorce, I moved with my mom to a place called Mount Carroll. At first I thought the place was horrible. That I would never get used to it. Combined with the stress of my parents’ deteriorating relationship, I was in no mood to adapt to new things. That’s when my mom got me a new iPhone. She said I needed something to commemorate the changes and help me adjust. I wasn’t sure I could agree with her, but I sure did like that phone. I decided to give Mount Carroll a chance and went around showing off my new phone – or, at least, trying to. I suppose it was horribly childish, but I went over to the local grocery store and called everyone I knew for the sake of flashing my cell phone. I laugh about it now, but I was serious at the time. I really loved that thing and I was so proud of it. I felt like I could face anything as long as I had my iPhone by my side. I suppose I should have treated it better though, being as important as it was. I had called my best friend from my old town and we were chatting when a shopping cart bumped into me from behind. I guess it had rolled downhill and coincidentally hit me… either way; it scared the crap out of me. I jumped so high that I dropped my brand new phone. It smashed onto the ground with pieces flying everywhere. Evidently, the screen was broken. When I picked it up I realized how extensive the damages were – there was a long spit right down the face of monitor. I went home terribly disappointed and told my mom what had happened. She was relieved it was just the screen, though, and told me that she knew of an iPhone repair company that specialized in iPod lcd repairs and Apple iPhone LCD replacements. I decided to give this company a try and let my mom box up the iPhone. We mailed it to the company the next day and I was expecting to go without my phone for a few weeks at least. Fortunately, however, the repairs only took a few days. I got my phone back by that Friday – just in time for the first week of school. My mom told me to be more careful after that and I agreed with her on the matter. I wouldn’t be trying to show off any more. Especially at a grocery store – things had a way of coming back and biting me in the butt. I will say, however, that if I ever another problem or if I need a repair nano first generation, I’ll know where to go.
