The Perfect iPhone App for Children

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Awww… For anyone out there that has children, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren, Color Me!!! is a truly interesting iPhone app to keep them entertained. Let me give you an example. My niece is in the preschool age, so this little app works for her as an electronic coloring book. Of course, I want her to like me and think that I am her cool aunt, so I use this app to entice her, play with her, and make her think that I am cooler than I really am. It works quite well!

There are different picture categories that you can tap on to color the screen, which keeps my niece entertained for hours at a time. These adorable pictures can also be uploaded to Facebook if they are done by your own children, making it much more convenient to be a proud parent in a social media setting. This is also the perfect app to have on hand if you are waiting with your children anywhere, like at the dentist or doctor’s office, because they can play and play without worrying about the time. Just when you thought that the iPhone was only adult friendly, it pulls out this wonderful child friendly iPhone app!

Happy Hour Help

Friday, March 12th, 2010

If you are someone who is ever on the search for an interesting happy hour, of course, the iPhone gives you the opportunity to download a complete happy hour app! This is something that I absolutely love because we all know that drinks can get pretty expensive. On top of that, in my “old age”, I feel that I am wanting to go out earlier than ever. This is a fun happy hour app that will tell you all of the happy hours in your area, but the best feature of all is that it lets you sort by time!

This means that if you and your boyfriend are thinking of going to get some cocktails on Friday after work, you can search in advance to find out which bars in your area are having drink specials. It will range from closest to your location to farther away, meaning that you have the opportunity to explore something a little bit out of your neighborhood if you are interested. It is fantastic to see clear happy hours in detail, which are often difficult to find out about, unless you happened to drive by a bar and see a happy hour special posted on the marquee. It’s five o’clock somewhere!

Yoga to Improve Strength?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

For any regular exerciser, yoga is a must because it gives you the strength and stability that your body needs for balance. If you regularly run or lift weights, you’ll be happy to start integrating yoga into your regular exercise plan to promote flexibility and even more strength. If you don’t know where to begin, try out the Yoga Stretch iPhone app, which gives you five different yoga sessions to work with. You can program your own music from your iTunes list, which allows you to make a perfect yoga music playlist for relaxation.

These yoga postures will improve balance, strength, and flexibility, and the app works as your own personal yoga instructor. There is even audio commentary available to give you further guidance in executing all of the poses correctly. The pre-loaded Yoga Session works with 60 minutes of different yoga poses for stretching and relaxation. You can also turn on or off the commentary that tells you to transition in all of your poses. The bottom line is that this is the opportunity you have been looking for to enhance your workout and get even greater results in strength. Until you try yoga, you may not realize that yoga is harder than you think!

Fun with Wine and Cheese

Friday, February 26th, 2010

As it turns out, cheese can be something as wonderfully exclusive as wine. If you are wanting to know more about cheese, or fromage, in general, check out the Fromage iPhone app. This will give you expert information on 750 choices in cheeses, to let you perfectly pick something to pair with your wine. PhotoBuddy Is Your Friend

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I have to confess that I don’t know too much about photography, but I find the PhotoBuddy iPhone app entirely fascinating. This is something that my girlfriend downloaded, and it has so many different features for taking amazing pictures. First of all, did you know that it has the potential to calculate the moon phases and time of the sunrise and sunset? Like I said, I don’t know a lot about photography, but I do know that the light is important. It also has a built in camera in the app so that you can measure different distances.

It will help you to calculate changes in exposure or the depth of the picture that you are taking, and it will also give you the maximum distance of flash that can be used for the picture. Wow! There is a bulb timer within the app so that you can take shots with long exposure at up to 13 hours with the camera in your iPhone. This app works to save all of your settings, so you can continually use it and recreate wonderful pictures you may have taken. This is something that any photographer will appreciate, and it will help you in your craft!

Stay Motivated When You Run!

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I am an avid runner because it keeps me motivated since I get to spend time outdoors. Luckily, I live in a warmer climate, so I have the opportunity to run most of the time outdoors. One of the biggest issues that I have is wanting to mix up my running track all of the time because I get bored very easily. I decided recently to download iMapMyRun to my iPhone so that I can use GPS to track my running distance. Even better, this app helps me out with the time of my run, as well as the pace and speed that I’m going.

Couple that with the fact that I am a Twitter addict, and I knew that this was the perfect app for me because it integrates Twitter into the app so that you can tweet your running updates. I guess that makes me a little nerdy, but many of my friends are interested in running, and we often run together. That makes it directly relevant to tweet how fast I ran on my recent run because my friends are interested. You can also use voice feedback to motivate and coach you when you are running, which really does work!

WeightTracker iPhone App For The Holidays

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

With the holidays upon us, it can get quite difficult to stay as slim and as svelte as possible. One easy way to help yourself out as a preemptive strike on all of the Christmas food that you may be eating is the WeightTracker app on your iPhone. This is a handy little app, and it will let you set your own weight-loss goals in your handheld device. One of the greatest things about this app is that you can chart your progress on a daily basis, which is much more modern and convenient than keeping an old school food diary as recommended by some personal trainers and nutritionists.

This app is also handy because it will link you up with a number of different websites specializing in weight loss. These sites can help you with your progress, and it will allow you to stick with your goals when you’re out and about. This is especially handy to use if you are eating out in a restaurant and want to count your calories, or even if you want to stay on track with your diet when visiting family over the holidays. You can maintain your shape in the holiday season!

How Long is a Facebook User Really Online?

Friday, December 18th, 2009

laptop-use-lgYes, we all know that Facebook is incredibly addicting, but one interesting fact of information is that the average Facebook user could spend up to three whole days on the site within one year’s time! When you think about how convenient it is to access Facebook anywhere you are, especially when you take into account Facebook applications for your iPhone, these statistics only make sense. Still, it makes you think twice about how much time you are spending on your computer or staring into the screen of your iPhone when you could be talking to actual people.

Probably one of the most popular ways for users to access Facebook is through their iPhones, which have a number of convenient apps to bring you directly to the site. Facebook is addicting on a regular basis because you are prompted to share with your friends exactly what you are doing, so why wouldn’t you update from your iPhone when you are out and about on the go? There is not necessarily anything wrong with spending up to 72 hours of your time on Facebook, that is, unless you are neglecting some other things in life as a result, like working out, sleep, your family…

Meal Planning Made Easy

Friday, November 27th, 2009

mealI am definitely a health-conscious person, but I tell you what, it can get pretty frustrating to try to figure out the healthiest meals available ALL OF THE TIME. One great iPhone app for you to download if you’re interested in eating healthier is the Dietician app. This is supposed to work as a standalone meal plan generator on the iPod touch and iPhone. This is an app that uses tracking systems, which is a type of meal planning that can often only be accessed through subscription services.

This is much different than keeping a food diary because it will plan all of your meals for you and give you access to healthy recipes. If you are hoping to eat healthier or even lose weight around the holidays, then you can make sure that all of the meals that you are cooking are up to par. This is a personalized application that is going to help you choose meal plans that are exactly tailored to meet your needs. You can put in your weight, and then you can also put in your goal weight to make sure that all of your meal planning is correct. The best part of all is that it will show you all of your meals for the day so that means less planning on your part!
