If you have gone out to the beach recently without any type of sun protection, shame on you! One of the main reasons for wearing a regular sunblock is because it will prevent damage below the surface of your skin, preventing you from looking leathery and wrinkled before your time. For this reason, I decided it was important to share some information I researched on my iPhone about sunblock so that you can make a smart decision when buying your sun care products.
First of all, keep in mind that a self-tanner will not provide sun protection. A self-tanner is actually a bronzing stain on the surface of your skin, and it does nothing to protect from the sun. Even when using a self-tanning product, you still need to apply sunblock regularly. Many people also feel that they should not put sunscreen too close to their eyes, which is actually the truth. Very little damage happens to the eyelids, but if you are worried about burning, use an eye cream product that will protect your eyes from the sun. Last of all, you may already have long-term damage from laying out in the sun, but you can continue to protect the quality of your skin by vigilantly applying sunblock on a daily basis!
What You Need to Know About Sunscreen
June 18th, 2010Helpful Photo Sharing from Jalbum
June 15th, 2010
You may be one of the many people out there that is already addicted to social media, and if so, it is best to customize and streamline all of your pictures into one professional album. What I am talking about is Jalbum, where you get to create your own professional photo album, upload a personalized skin, and share with your family members and friends. Even better, if you are concerned about connecting with people through your other online social media profiles, such as Twitter and Facebook, Jalbum will allow you to share your pictures directly through a link with the click of a button.
You can also use Digg to update people about your Jalbum pictures, or you may simply want to stick with streaming Jalbum through Twitter and Facebook to keep everyone in your circle in the know when you have added a new picture. This is something that is incredibly popular with a budding photographer friend of mine, and I will constantly see her update her Jalbum images to her Facebook several times throughout the day. It made me more than curious, so I had to visit her Jalbum to see for myself, where her whole portfolio was showcased beautifully with her favorite Jalbum skin.
Conserve Water with Your iPhone
June 4th, 2010
There is a fantastic little iPhone app called My Water Diary. We all are aware of the fact that water is a precious commodity and a finite resource, which will probably become even more scarce as we enter into the future. Of course, water something that we cannot live without by any means, and the earth is using more than ever before. Water is used for cooking, washing, drinking, and other purposes, and water is used on a regular basis to produce paper, food, and the clothing that you wear.
The bottom line is that this app will help you to track the amount of water that you use on a weekly basis for cooking, washing, drinking, and other purposes, which will allow you to conserve water and actually save some money. This is fantastic for anyone that would like to have a little more perspective on how they are making an impact on the environment. In fact, this app can be used by the entire family so that you can have fun in learning to conserve water and be more aware of your usages! Whether you are doing laundry, washing your car, or hand washing dishes, it is important to understand how much water could be potentially used in the process. Mother Earth will thank you…
How to Have an Affordable Barbecue
June 1st, 2010Summer is such a wonderful time for barbecuing outdoors with friends, but you definitely don’t want to blow your budget on one Memorial Day celebration! Here are some of the best ideas that I have gotten online from my iPhone with its shiny new backplate from milliamp.com to have a successful barbecue without breaking the bank!
One of the easiest ways to save money in a barbecue is in your tableware and decorations. You can definitely use cheap paper plates and cutlery, which people won’t mind in the least. Where to spend your money is in better grilling tools, like a basting brush and tongs, which will make the main dish even more appealing for your barbecue party. As another fun idea to save a little bit of money, don’t be shy to ask your friends to bring their own dishes. If everyone contributes a little bit to your barbecue in a potluck style, then you don’t have to worry about spending $100 on hamburgers for 30 people! This way, you can get together with the people you love, have some fun in the sun, and not even have to worry about how much money you have spent. This is absolutely the best way to continue to enjoy yourself in the summer season.
How to Find Cheap Airfare
May 24th, 2010If you are planning a vacation for the summer, you may have already checked out many of the travel apps on your iPhone to get you started. Of course, those are incredibly handy, but here are some of the best ways to make sure that you secure the cheapest deal in your airfare, no matter where you may be going.
Since airlines normally provide new information to their websites at midnight, it is best to shop online for airfare right after midnight. If you are flying internationally, you may want to choose to fly courier, which is often much cheaper than a regular airline, although restrictions do apply. If you are interested in a sale offered by a specific airline, make sure to check on it right away since many people will probably take advantage so that it becomes booked completely. If you do have a flexible schedule for your vacation, one of the most fun things that you can do is check at the last minute for cheap airfare over the weekend. This will allow you to choose from a number of discounted destinations, but this idea will only work if you aren’t totally set on your travel dates and plans.
Bret Michaels Is Doing Fine!
May 11th, 2010
You may have recently heard about the scary brain hemorrhage that Bret Michaels suffered several weeks ago, which he is now claiming brought him closer to his girlfriend. In this situation, his girlfriend saved his life by supporting him during his ride to the hospital and stay there. Bret Michaels has had an on again/off again relationship with his current girlfriend for the past 16 years, so she has been his rock during this time of his recent brain hemorrhage.
You may be more familiar with Bret Michaels recently from his stint on Rock of Love, which I have to admit that I am still guilty of downloading and watching on my iPhone. This was not necessarily the classiest show, but it was addicting nonetheless because it was cheesy and trashy dating at its finest. Interestingly enough, Michaels’ current girlfriend was not from the show, but she is someone who has been in his life for almost 2 decades. The bottom line is that we are all happy that Bret Michaels is doing well, but since he seems to also be hitting it off with his current girlfriend, it looks like we may not be looking forward to a new season of Rock of Love any time soon.
Clean Up Your Messy Car!
May 5th, 2010
So many people let the state of their car spiral out of control, when it is quite easy to keep it clean and organized. If you to have the guilt weighing on you about a messy automobile, here are some simple tips that I found on a blog post on my iPhone to help you out. First of all, start out by using all of the compartments in your car for their purpose. This means putting all of your paperwork in your glove compartment and door pockets, as well as the inner console.
For any extra items, buy plastic cases to store CDs or your iPod. If you have quite a bit of paperwork in your car, you may also want to put a file box in there to keep it organized so that it doesn’t get soiled or lost. It is also always a great idea to have a trash bag in every row of seats in your car, especially if you have children. This will prevent you from finding candy or soda cans months later, after they have already stained or soiled your car. The truth is that cleaning out your car is quite therapeutic, and it gives you a pleasant environment to commute to and from work!
Are You Doing Your Yoga Right?
April 27th, 2010
I have always been a fan of yoga, which is why I downloaded the app to my iPhone. Still, I wondered since I am not working with a professional yoga instructor if I am actually doing it right. That is why I decided to check out some of these helpful tips on my iPhone to find out the very best way to get my yoga on without hurting myself.
First of all, for anyone out there that is practicing the downward facing dog, it’s important not to drop your shoulders, or it could cause an injury. Instead, make sure that you are lifting your shoulders to take off the pressure and pressing your hands evenly on the floor. When you are doing the lunging pose of Warrior I, it is also important not to push your knee over your ankle. Apparently, this is a very common yoga mistake, but it could cause strain on the knee with potential injury. Last of all, when you are doing the plank pose, which is a pose at the top of a push-up, make sure that your backside is not straight up in the air. It’s important to have a slight diagonal turn from the shoulders to feet so that you get your ab work in.
Adam Lambert on Twitter
April 22nd, 2010
If I am addicted to using Twitter on my iPhone at every waking moment of the day, it would only beg to reason that Adam Lambert may feel the same way. Twitter is a big avenue for a number of celebrities, and when it is conveniently on your iPhone, it can be pretty hard to stay away from. Adam Lambert reached out to his followers on Twitter due to their concern about him mentoring on American Idol, but he promised them to be family-friendly and provide good entertainment.
It is a little strange that one of the top two on last season’s American Idol was experiencing criticism about going back on the show. Of course, compared to Kris Allen, he is definitely nowhere near as family-friendly. You have the clean-cut, good guy image versus the dark and theatrical Adam Lambert, which is quite a difference between the two. Since his time on American Idol, he has also come out as gay, which may have caused concern in many American Idol fans about his family-friendly behavior. Now that his mentorship on the show has aired, it was obvious that he was on his best behavior and provided helpful criticism to all of the contestants. I’m still a fan!
Frequent Flyer Rewards, Here I Come!
April 13th, 2010
Most recently, I have been a little obsessed with getting all of my frequent flyer airline mile rewards because I am itching for some travel. For this reason, mileBlaster was the ideal iPhone app for me at a hefty $5.99, although it was well worth it. This lets me manage all of my frequent flyer points from my different rewards programs, which helps me stay up to date in what I am earning. I think that one of the worst mistakes that people can make is having all of these rewards that accumulate, but they never use them because they are not aware of them.
This app lets you set up your own account, which is quite simple, to organize all of your rewards. From there, you can add your different rewards to your list, which will give you a little chart of where you are in reaching your ultimate goal of free travel. You also have the option of adding detail to each of the accounts, which may help you remember exactly what you are spending. I myself am planning a fun little weekend vacation to San Francisco, even though I felt like I should visit my family instead. Who cares? It’s vacation!
