The Super Kindle vs. The iPad

February 11th, 2010

It seems that Amazon is not ready to give it up to the iPad just yet because they are hoping to create a super version of the Kindle as a response. One of the biggest competing features of the iPad is the fact that it can be used to read books in a larger tablet form. Of course, that is only the tip of the iceberg because it has a number of other features, like e-mail, maps, applications, and even a digital photo display. This is something that Amazon is not too happy about because the Kindle is only used for reading books, which the iPad can also do. Not to mention the fact that it can also be used for music and downloading from iTunes…

Regardless, this is an amazing device to have by your side if you want to avoid a bulkier laptop and curl up with a book to read in bed at the same time. It is also wise to consider an option for iPad repair when you purchase the device since it is somewhat costly. This way, if any of the parts go out, you will be all set with a professional company to back you up with an affordable replacement.

How To Crack The Rubiks Cube

February 5th, 2010

One of the things that my iPhone has brought to my life is the ability to use it for a number of fun tricks. As an example, if I don’t have the answer to a crossword puzzle, I will just look it up, and then I will seem impressive and smart. Another great use for my iPhone was looking up how to solve the ever elusive Rubiks cube. Who has actually done it? This is a crazy little puzzle, but I found a cheat sheet online that I looked up through my iPhone.

The Rubiks cube was invented in 1974, and rumor has it that people spend hours on end trying to figure it out. It’s incredibly frustrating if you are getting nowhere, but there are also strategy guides available online that I used to my advantage. The strategy in using the Rubiks cube is to start by looking at the front of the cube to manipulate it. The strategy guide instructs you how to turn all of the nine different cubes in clockwise and counterclockwise motions so that you can begin to crack the puzzle and bring solid blocks of color forward. It’s easier than it looks, so try it for yourself and see!

The iPad Hits The Big Time!

January 29th, 2010

Once again, the new iPad is beautiful simplicity at its best. Apparently, it is not a netbook, which is something that Apple refers to as a cheap laptop. This device is aiming for a new market of sleek sophistication, and it works as a large iPhone. It seems to be a large enough size for easy reading and looking at pictures, but it still doesn’t feel heavy in the hand. The size of the screen is about the same size as a large paperback book, but it’s only a mere half inch deep.

Users do need to keep in mind that the screen is very vulnerable to damage so you may need to check out the iPad repair stores in your area. This is something that laptop users certainly aren’t used to because you can be slightly more rough with those types of devices. This is a device used with a touch of your hand, but if you are already an avid iPhone user, then you may be surprised at all of the room that you have to work with! Again, this is a device that is advertised to do everything that a laptop can, but it will also work with smartphone features.

How To Deal With The Jitters

January 21st, 2010

I have to tell you a personal story that involves me being incredibly nervous to speak in public, and I wanted to call myself down. Of course, I am addicted to my iPhone, so I decided to Google how to calm yourself down, and I found that you can make your heart slow down if it is racing if you blow on your thumb. This works perfectly if you are nervous about a first date, business meeting, or public speaking event.

The nerve that controls your heart rate can be regulated through breathing, so it works to breathe regularly onto your thumb to reduce your heart rate and get it back to normal. Just as an extra tip, if you have brain freeze, which we all know is horribly paralyzing, you can press your tongue against the roof of your mouth to stop this issue. The trick is to press as much of your tongue against the roof of your mouth as you can, which will work to warm the nerves in your mouth and prevent headaches caused by eating cold foods or drinks.

Check out all of these body related tricks on your iPhone to find a number of ways to stay ahead of the game!

Are Your Beauty Products Safe?

January 14th, 2010

Normally, when I go shopping for beauty products, I will take my iPhone with me. Why is that, you may ask? To be honest with you, many of the beauty products on the market are dangerous and contain harmful ingredients. Just because a product is beautifully packaged does not mean it is safe for your skin. I am all about preventing breakouts and premature wrinkles, so I began using my iPhone to look up beauty products to see if they had safe ingredients.

A specific resource that I found will let you know what impact the ingredients within certain products have on your skin. For instance, it will tell you if the ingredients cause cancer, reproductive issues, FDA violations, allergy issues, or toxicity in the skin. This all sounds very scary, but this is the reality of purchasing products on the market. As an example, a L’Oreal mascara on the market has ingredients linked to cancer, reproductive problems, allergies, and toxins in the body. This means that it could potentially irritate the skin, contaminate, or cause cellular level changes. If you have ever looked at an ingredient list on a product and wondered why it is so long and confusing, it could mean that it is not good for your skin!

PhotoBuddy Is Your Friend

January 7th, 2010

I have to confess that I don’t know too much about photography, but I find the PhotoBuddy iPhone app entirely fascinating. This is something that my girlfriend downloaded, and it has so many different features for taking amazing pictures. First of all, did you know that it has the potential to calculate the moon phases and time of the sunrise and sunset? Like I said, I don’t know a lot about photography, but I do know that the light is important. It also has a built in camera in the app so that you can measure different distances.

It will help you to calculate changes in exposure or the depth of the picture that you are taking, and it will also give you the maximum distance of flash that can be used for the picture. Wow! There is a bulb timer within the app so that you can take shots with long exposure at up to 13 hours with the camera in your iPhone. This app works to save all of your settings, so you can continually use it and recreate wonderful pictures you may have taken. This is something that any photographer will appreciate, and it will help you in your craft!

Stay Motivated When You Run!

December 29th, 2009

I am an avid runner because it keeps me motivated since I get to spend time outdoors. Luckily, I live in a warmer climate, so I have the opportunity to run most of the time outdoors. One of the biggest issues that I have is wanting to mix up my running track all of the time because I get bored very easily. I decided recently to download iMapMyRun to my iPhone so that I can use GPS to track my running distance. Even better, this app helps me out with the time of my run, as well as the pace and speed that I’m going.

Couple that with the fact that I am a Twitter addict, and I knew that this was the perfect app for me because it integrates Twitter into the app so that you can tweet your running updates. I guess that makes me a little nerdy, but many of my friends are interested in running, and we often run together. That makes it directly relevant to tweet how fast I ran on my recent run because my friends are interested. You can also use voice feedback to motivate and coach you when you are running, which really does work!
